College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. Every account is verified with a @student.ysu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Penguins — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
YSU's on-campus housing is compact enough that you'll recognize half the people you trade with. Lyden House carries most of the traditional-style rooms, Cafaro House is mostly suite-style and home to the Honors College community, and Wick House is the small historic building on Wick Avenue set aside for upper-class students in the Cliffe Living Learning Community. Students who want a full apartment head to University Courtyard Apartments at the edge of campus, where rent is billed straight to the university account and financial aid can be applied to it. Kilcawley House is offline for the 2026-27 year, which makes the remaining halls tighter than usual — and everything you need is already on campus. Youngstown State students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, rugs, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
What's already in the room matters a lot here, because it decides what's worth buying. Every resident gets a twin XL bed, a wardrobe-and-dresser combination, a desk or table with a chair, blinds, and a trashcan, and each room comes with a MicroFridge unit — refrigerator, freezer, and microwave in one — shared between roommates. Personal mini fridges, microwaves, toasters, air fryers, rice cookers, and crockpots are all prohibited, so leave those off your shopping list. Lofts, loft kits, and bed risers are banned outright, which means storage that fits under a standard twin XL frame is the smarter buy. Rooms have air conditioning and heat on an in-room control unit, and the basement laundry rooms are free to use.
When it's time to hand something off, stay on campus and stay visible. Maag Library is the easiest default, and Christman Dining Hall, the Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center, DeBartolo Hall, and the Beeghly Center all work during the day. Kilcawley Center is closed for renovation through Fall 2027, so plan around it — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
Fall 2026 move-in runs Wednesday, August 19 for new residents and Friday, August 21 for returning residents, and those two weeks are when listings turn over fastest.
