Trust & Safety

Campus Safety

Verification makes College Marketplace safer than open marketplaces — but smart habits still matter. Follow these tips for every transaction.

Meeting up

  • Meet in a public, well-lit place on or near campus — student centers, libraries, and dining halls are great.
  • Meet during the day when you can, and bring a friend if you'd feel more comfortable.
  • Let someone know where you're going and when.

Buying and selling

  • Inspect the item in person before paying.
  • Agree on price and condition over in-app messaging first, so there are no surprises.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, walk away.

Tools that protect you

  • Everyone is a verified student, so you always know who you're dealing with.
  • Keep conversations in the app rather than moving to other platforms.
  • You can report a listing or user, or block someone, at any time — we review every report.

If something goes wrong

Report the listing or user directly in the app, or contact us at support@mycollegemarketplace.com. We take safety seriously and act on reports quickly. If you're ever in immediate danger, contact campus security or local authorities first.
