Buying & selling at Xavier University
Campus details for Xavier students.
College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Every account is verified with a @xavier.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Musketeers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
Where Musketeers buy and sell
Xavier's campus is compact, and the residence halls cluster around the Residential Mall just north of Gallagher. Whether you're a first-year in Kuhlman, Husman, Brockman, or Buenger, in the suites at Fenwick Place, or in apartments at Commons, Manor House, or University Apartments, everything you need is a few minutes' walk away. Musketeers post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
Two Xavier rules that decide what's worth buying
Bedrooms in Brockman, Buenger, Husman and Kuhlman are not carpeted. Xavier says so outright and points students to a suggested carpet size for each hall. A rug isn't optional in those four buildings — it's the first thing most people buy, and a used one in good shape is worth grabbing.
Lofting is only available in Husman and Kuhlman. Beds elsewhere on campus cannot be lofted, though most frames have adjustable height. So a loft kit is useful in exactly two buildings and useless everywhere else — check the hall before you buy one secondhand.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The Gallagher Student Center sits at the heart of campus with the McDonald Memorial Library, Hoff Dining Center, and the O'Connor Sports Center all a short walk away. The Xavier Yard between Kuhlman, Husman and Gallagher is the natural spot if you're both in the first-year halls. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Cincinnati to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for nursing, business, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Musketeer who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
