College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Every account is verified with a @winthrop.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Eagles, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Eagles usually land in Margaret Nance Hall, the traditional-style hall with hall bathrooms, fireplace lounges and study space. From there most students move into the suite-style buildings: Lee Wicker Hall, with its lounges for studying and TV, Thomson Hall, whose layout creates a smaller community feel, and Phelps Hall, the upper-class suite hall with a computer lab and a big lobby. Upperclass students who want a kitchen and a private bedroom head for The Courtyard at Winthrop or CampusWalk Through Winthrop. Winthrop asks first- and second-year students to live on campus for two years, which means a lot of people are furnishing a room, then re-furnishing a suite or an apartment a year later. Everything you need for that is already on campus. Winthrop students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, rugs and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

The details matter here more than at most schools. Beds are extra-long twins (80" x 36"), so standard twin sheets will not fit and extra-long sets get resold constantly. Every room already comes with a MicroFridge unit, and personal refrigerators and microwaves are prohibited, so skip the dorm-fridge shopping and spend on storage and seating instead. Lofts are allowed in most halls but not in The Courtyard, and Residence Life does not supply kits, so students buy their own frames or pre-made loft beds and hand them down. Candles, halogen lamps, George Foreman-style grills and hoverboards are all off the list.

Meeting up is easy when everyone is within a few minutes' walk. Trade in the DiGiorgio Campus Center, outside Dacus Library, at the Lois Rhame West Center before or after a workout, or grab a table at the Eagle Eatery in Thomson Hall or Markley's Food Court. Scholars Walk works too when the weather is good. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
