College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Every account is verified with a @uw.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Huskies — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
Where Huskies buy and sell
UW housing splits between North and West Campus. Whether you're on West Campus in Alder, Elm, Lander, Maple, Poplar, or Terry, on North Campus in McCarty, Oak, Oliver, Spratlen, or the historic Hansee and McMahon, or in apartments at Cedar, Mercer Court, Nordheim Court, or Stevens Court, everything you need is already on campus. Washington students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every quarter — usually for a fraction of retail. Students living off campus in the U-District and along the Ave use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
A note on hall names
Two halls were renamed recently: Spratlen Hall was formerly Madrona Hall, and Oliver Hall was formerly Willow Hall. If you're searching for either old name, that's the same building. Haggett Hall is under construction and scheduled to open in Autumn 2027, so it isn't part of 2026–27 housing.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The HUB, Suzzallo and Odegaard libraries, Red Square, and the IMA are all easy meeting points between classes, and West Campus is a short walk down to Red Square. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no crossing Seattle to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for engineering, computer science, business, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Husky who took the class last quarter beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
The weeks that matter most
UW runs on quarters, with residence hall agreements running September to June. September move-in and June move-out are when the marketplace is busiest — graduating seniors and students heading home are clearing out furniture, fridges, and storage all at once, and incoming students need all of it. If you're selling, post before the rush. If you're buying, that's when the good stuff appears and disappears the same day.
