Wake Forest has a six-semester residency requirement, so students live on campus for three full years. Whether you're on South Campus in Bostwick, Johnson, Collins, Luter, Davis, or Huffman, on North Campus in Kitchin, Poteat, Taylor, Efird, Babcock area halls, Dogwood, Magnolia, Martin, or Hopkins, or in apartments at Polo, Deacon Place, North Campus Apartments, Student Apartments, or the Polo Road and Rosedale Circle houses, everything you need is already on campus. Deacons post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.

Three years on campus means three moves

Because the residency requirement runs six semesters, nearly every Deacon changes rooms at least twice — typically South Campus as a first-year, then north or into apartment-style housing. Each of those moves changes what fits: a room that needed a loft kit doesn't need one next year, and an apartment needs things a residence hall room never did. That's a steady flow of furniture between students rather than a single August spike.

Meeting up on campus

Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. Benson University Center, Z. Smith Reynolds Library, and the Sutton Sports Center are all easy meeting points between classes, and the Quad sits in the middle of everything. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Winston-Salem to meet someone off Craigslist.

Textbooks without the bookstore markup

Course materials for the sciences, business, and pre-med tracks run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Deacon who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
