On-campus housing at UTEP is built around three apartment-style communities: Miner Village, Miner Canyon, and Miner Heights. First-year students live in the FYRE (First-Year Residential Experience) halls — Guadalupe, Sacramento, Copper, and Whispering Springs — and returning students spread out into one-person studios and two- and four-bedroom units across the same communities. Whichever building your key card opens, everything you need is already on campus. UTEP students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, cookware, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Because UTEP housing is apartment-style, units arrive further along than a traditional dorm room. Every unit is fully furnished and comes with a kitchen, a private bathroom, and a stove, oven, and full-size refrigerator already installed, and the semester rate covers utilities, refrigerated air, high-speed internet, and laundry. Beds take twin XL linens, so skip the standard twin sheets. Housing allows one microwave per unit, which is worth sorting out with roommates before three of you show up carrying one. Everything electrical has to be UL approved and plugged straight into an outlet — no extension cords. Window and portable AC units, personal wireless routers, candles, and incense are prohibited, and the only pets allowed are fish in a tank of 20 gallons or smaller. That mix is exactly why the resale market here skews toward kitchen gear, seating, and storage rather than the usual dorm haul.

When it's time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy and public. Union Building East is the easiest landmark for a first-time trade, the UTEP Library works for anyone swapping textbooks between classes, and Centennial Plaza sits right in the middle of everything for a quick daytime handoff. All three are a short walk from housing: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
