Buying & selling at Utah Valley

Campus details for Utah Valley students.

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Every account is verified with a @uvu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Wolverines — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

UVU is unusual among big Utah schools: it doesn't run residence halls. The university says plainly that it "does not have on-campus student housing" and instead builds relationships with the privately owned complexes ringing campus, and its own housing FAQ adds that UVU "has no interest in owning and operating its own student apartments or dormitories at this time." First-year students who want the dorm-style experience join the Freshman Experience, a free mentoring and events program run at partner complexes within walking or shuttle distance of campus. What that means for buying and selling is simple — nobody is handed a furnished room. Wolverines are moving into apartments that need a bed, a desk chair, a lamp, a shower curtain, and a set of dishes, and most of that turns over between UVU students every August and every spring.

Because leases here are signed with the complexes rather than the university, move-out dates are staggered all over the calendar, and there's almost always someone within a mile of campus unloading a couch, a mini fridge, a monitor, or a semester's worth of textbooks. Listing early beats hauling it home.

Meet somewhere busy and central. The Sorensen Student Center, the Fulton Library, the Student Life & Wellness Center, and the UVU Campus Store are all easy, well-trafficked handoff spots between classes — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Popular categories at UVU: textbooks and course materials · dorm and apartment furniture · mini fridges and microwaves · bikes and scooters · UVU apparel and game day gear · electronics and monitors · event tickets · lofting kits and bed risers · storage bins and organizers
