College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Utah Tech University in Saint George, Utah. Every account is verified with a @utahtech.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Trailblazers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

On-campus housing here is compact and almost entirely suite or apartment style, which changes what people shop for. The Campus View complex carries most of it: Campus View Suites I and Campus View Suites II put three to six residents in a suite with a furnished living room, two bathrooms and a kitchenette with a full fridge/freezer and microwave, while Campus View Suites III, the newest building on campus, adds a French door refrigerator and community kitchens on every floor. Abby Apartments is apartment-style living, two shared bedrooms and one private bedroom per unit, with male and female apartments kept separate. University Inn is the outlier — a private bedroom and private bathroom with community cooking areas and free laundry, about a mile off campus, which is why Housing tells students without a car to think twice. Utah Tech doesn't require first-year students to live on campus, so the population turns over fast. Students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms come furnished with a bed, mattress, desk, desk chair and dresser drawers or closet space, so the trading is all in the extras: rugs, lamps, shelving, a second monitor, kitchenette cookware. Utilities, Wi-Fi and free laundry are built into the rent at the Campus View Suites and Abby Apartments, so most people aren't hauling in big appliances. Two lines from Housing's own packing list are worth knowing before you buy secondhand: bring a microwave only if you're assigned to University Inn, and bring a TV if you're assigned to Abby Apartments (coordinate with roommates first) — which is why those two items resell fast every August. Don't buy sheets on spec: University Inn rooms have a full XL bed, but for every other building Housing emails the mattress size once room assignments are complete. And check the Resident Life Handbook's prohibited-items list before you pick up a used cooking appliance.

When it's time to hand something over, pick somewhere busy and open: the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center, the Jeffrey R. Holland Centennial Commons where the library sits, the George S. Eccles Fitness Center, the lawn at Encampment Mall, or the doors of M. Anthony Burns Arena before a game. No shipping, no delivery fees, no meeting off campus.
