College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Tennessee at Martin in Martin, Tennessee. Every account is verified with a @ut.utm.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Skyhawks — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

UT Martin's housing is compact, which makes a campus-only marketplace genuinely practical. Underclass students land in the traditional halls: Ellington Hall, where two residents share a room and four share a connecting bathroom, and Cooper Hall, where eight residents share a furnished suite — two to a bedroom, with a common living area and a suite bath. Students who want more independence move into the apartment-style suites at Arnold Pryor Place or Conner Community, and University Courts offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for students and families. Anyone enrolled with fewer than 45 completed credit hours before the start of the fall term has to sign an academic-year lease, so every August a full class of new residents furnishes a room from scratch — and every May, the same gear goes looking for a new owner. UT Martin students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Know what you're buying before you buy it. Beds in Ellington and Cooper take extra-long twin sheets, not standard twin, so check the label on any bedding listing. Rooms come with a bed, a study desk and chair, and closet and storage space, plus wired and wireless internet — the gaps most people end up filling are storage, lighting, and seating. Loft beds brought from home are allowed in some halls only if the room doesn't already contain a built-in bed, and the university doesn't inspect them, so it's worth asking a seller which room their loft actually fit. Candles with wicks, incense, and halogen lamps are prohibited in the residence halls, and crock pots and open-coil appliances are only permitted in the apartment-style units. University Courts units are unfurnished but already include a refrigerator and stove, so nobody moving there needs a mini fridge.

Meet somewhere busy and central. The Boling University Center is the obvious handoff point between classes, and the Paul Meek Library, the Student Recreation Center, and the lobby of the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center all work just as well — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
