College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of North Carolina at Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina. Every account is verified with a @unca.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bulldogs — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Campus housing here is small enough that everyone knows the buildings by name. Founders Hall, Governors Hall, Mills Hall, Ponder Hall, South Ridge Hall, and West Ridge Hall hold most of the residential population in single and double rooms arranged into suites, The Village is all single rooms sharing bathrooms and common areas, and The Woods is apartment-style housing for upperclass students, with full kitchens and full-size appliances. First-year students are required to live on campus for their first academic year, and every residential student carries a meal plan. That first move in, and the later move over to an apartment, are why so much furniture and kitchen gear changes hands here. Everything you need is already on campus — UNC Asheville students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, cookware, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Know what the room already gives you before you buy anything. Every bed takes a Twin XL mattress, and the university supplies the frame and mattress, a desk and chair, one or two chests of drawers, window blinds, and closet space. Each room or suite also comes with a MicroFridge, so you may not need a refrigerator at all; if you do bring one, it has to stay under 220 watts and 10 cubic feet, and microwaves are capped at 600 watts. Residence hall rooms are air conditioned and personal window or portable AC units are not allowed. Skip the loft kit entirely — personal loft beds and loft kits are prohibited and you can't change the height of your bed, so lofting hardware is wasted money here. Laundry is included in your room fee. Halogen lamps, candles, deep fryers, open-coil burners, aquariums over ten gallons, and powered scooters are all prohibited, so don't buy one secondhand expecting to keep it.

Meet up somewhere public and busy: Highsmith Student Union, Ramsey Library, Brown Dining Hall, the Sherrill Center, or The Quad. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall 2026 move-in runs Thursday, August 13 for Founders, Governors, Ponder, and The Village, and Friday, August 14 for Mills, South Ridge, West Ridge, and The Woods. Those two mornings and the last week of spring are when listings move fastest.
