Buying & selling at UL Monroe
Campus details for UL Monroe students.
College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Louisiana Monroe in Monroe, Louisiana. Every account is verified with a @warhawks.ulm.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Warhawks — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
ULM requires unmarried, full-time undergraduates to live in on-campus housing as long as space is available, which keeps rooms turning over every August and May. The traditional halls come first: Madison Hall for men, Ouachita Hall and Masur Hall for women, each with semi-private baths. From there students move into suite-style living at University Commons, University Suites, and Bayou Suites, or into full apartments with kitchens at Bayou Village Apartments and Warhawk Village Apartments, both held for upperclassmen who clear the credit-hour and GPA minimums. Whichever building you land in, everything you need is already on campus. ULM students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
It pays to know the rules before you buy. Hall rooms arrive fully furnished with an extra-long twin bed, a dresser, a closet, and a computer desk, and university furniture has to stay in the room, so bedding, seating, and storage are what actually change hands. The halls take an XL Twin mattress at 38 by 79 inches, but the apartments do not: Bayou Village Apartments and Warhawk Village Apartments have full-size beds at 54 by 80 inches, so check the sheet size before you buy someone's old set. Air conditioning is included everywhere, window or wall units in the halls and individual climate control in the apartments, and personal air conditioners are prohibited. Residential Life caps mini fridges at 3.3 cubic feet and microwaves at 1.1 cubic feet, permits air fryers, auto shut-off coffee makers, LED rope lights, and surge-protected power strips, and bans extension cords, toaster ovens, grills, portable burners, space heaters, candles, halogen lamps, strand lights, wax warmers, and water beds. The campus network is just as strict: only ethernet switches are allowed, and wireless routers and extenders will be confiscated.
When it's time to hand something over, stay somewhere busy and well lit. The Student Union Building is the natural first pick, and the University Library, the ULM Activity Center, the Clarke M. Williams Student Success Center, and the ULM Bookstore all work between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
