College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for The University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Every account is verified with a @utulsa.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Golden Hurricane students — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
TU keeps its students close. First-year and second-year students both have to live in university housing on a meal plan, unless they're 21, married, or living within 20 miles with a parent or guardian. Year one usually means a traditional hall — John Mabee Hall, Lottie Jane Mabee Hall, Hardesty Hall, or LaFortune House, home of the First-Year Residential Experience — or a room in Fisher Suites. Sophomores get University Suites at University Square, the furnished Sophomore Housing Community. After that, upperclass students spread into the campus apartment villages: Brown Village, Lorton Village, Mayo Village, Norman Village, University Square, and West Park Village, the Honors College residence. With two straight years on campus, everything you need is already on campus. TU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Check the rules before you buy. Beds in John Mabee, Lottie Jane, Hardesty, LaFortune, and the economy singles in Fisher Suites take twin extra-long sheets at 39 by 80 inches; the standard singles in Fisher Suites are the outlier, sized for a full extra-long mattress at 54 by 80. Refrigerators can run up to six cubic feet, microwaves top out at 750 watts, and housing rents a MicroFridge for $125 a semester instead. Anything that heats or cooks is out — hot pots, toaster ovens, space heaters — along with candles, incense, wax warmers, and blankets or flags hung on the wall. Coffee makers with automatic shut-off are fine. The apartments are a different market: major kitchen appliances come with the unit, but all of the living, dining, and bedroom furniture is yours to supply, which is why couches and bed frames turn over hard every May and August.
Meet somewhere central and busy. The Allen Chapman Student Union is the default handoff, with mail services, the food court, and a 24-hour computer lab under one roof, and McFarlin Library, the Collins Fitness Center, and the Pat Case Dining Center work just as well in daylight. Apartment residents can swap at the Apartment Community House instead. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
