College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Every account is verified with a @troy.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Trojans — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Housing at TROY is compact and walkable, which is exactly why secondhand furniture moves so well here. A lot of students land in the suite-style halls — Clements Hall, Shackelford Hall, and the women's Cowart Hall — while Rushing Hall is almost entirely single-occupancy suites and the Newman Center runs quad-style suites plus a handful of doubles. Pace Hall gives priority to international students and to American students interested in cultural exchange, the ten-resident Honors Cottage is reserved for the TROY Honors Program, and Trojan Village, which includes Gerald O. Dial Hall, is two- and four-bedroom apartment-style units. Any student who hasn't turned 19 by the last day of regular fall registration has to live on campus unless they're commuting from a parent's home, so everything you need is already on campus. Troy students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the bed size before you buy sheets, because TROY is genuinely inconsistent about it. Clements, Cowart, and Pace each run a mix of regular twin and Twin XL; the Newman Center, the Honors Cottage, and Trojan Village are Twin XL; and Rushing Hall uses full-size beds. Rooms come furnished with a bed, desk, and chest of drawers — Cowart adds movable wardrobe closet space, and Rushing rooms include a small bookcase, a wall-mounted TV, and an open closet you can curtain off with a tension rod. Appliance limits are tight: microwaves 600–800 watts, mini fridges 1.7 to 2.4 cubic feet, toaster ovens 600–700 watts. Air fryers, Instant Pots, toasters, hot plates, candles, personal washers and dryers, and wireless routers are all banned, and so is anything that puts a hole in the wall — no nails, no screws, no Command strips. Meal plans are required in halls without kitchens, which is why Pace and the Honors Cottage are exempt.

Meet up somewhere public and busy. The Trojan Center is the natural handoff point, with the Trojan Center Food Court right inside it; the Troy Campus Library, the Trojan Fitness and Wellness Center, and the TROY Bookstore all work just as well in daylight with people around. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
