College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Towson University in Towson, Maryland. Every account is verified with a @students.towson.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Tigers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Campus housing splits into a few distinct neighborhoods, and where you land changes what you actually need to buy. A lot of first-year and underclass students land in the four suite-style high-rises of the Glen Complex — Glen Complex Tower A, Glen Complex Tower B, Glen Complex Tower C and Glen Complex Tower D — or in the Towsontown halls: Newell Hall, Richmond Hall, Prettyman Hall and Scarborough Hall. Over in West Village, Barton House and Douglass House are the premium houses with private in-room bathrooms, and Douglass holds Honors College housing; Harris Hall and Tubman House sit alongside them. Upperclass and transfer students move into Residence Tower, Towson Run Apartments, Barnes Hall, Marshall Hall or The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue, which first-time freshmen aren't eligible for. Wherever you end up, everything you need is already on campus. Towson students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the rules before you shop, because Towson's are stricter than most. Every room comes furnished with a bed, desk and chair, a closet or wardrobe, a dresser, blinds or drapes and a MicroFridge — which is exactly why you shouldn't buy a mini fridge or a microwave here. Additional refrigerators and microwaves are prohibited in student rooms, though a single-cup coffee maker like a Keurig is fine. Beds are XL Twin, 80 by 36 inches, in nearly every building, so buy XL sheets; the exception is Barnes Hall and Marshall Hall, which have full-size beds. Lofting is out entirely — beds must stay on the floor and may not be elevated in any way, and non-university lofts and mattresses are banned, as are extension cords and space heaters. All buildings are air conditioned, and window or portable AC units aren't permitted. That pushes the resale market toward what actually moves here: shelving, fans, rugs, futons and cookware for the apartment kitchens.

Hand-offs are easy when you meet somewhere busy: inside the University Union, outside Cook Library, by the front desk at Burdick Hall, at West Village Commons, over a swipe at Newell Dining Hall, or in front of SECU Arena on a game night — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
