College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Every account is verified with a @ttu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Red Raiders — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
With 40,000 students in Lubbock, somebody is always selling the exact textbook or mini fridge you need. The hard part has always been finding them without wading through a Facebook group full of alumni and bots. Whether you're in Murray, Talkington, Chitwood, Weymouth, Coleman or Gordon, in Hulen, Clement, Sneed, Bledsoe, Wall or Gates, or setting up at Horn, Knapp, Stangel, Murdough or Carpenter/Wells, everything you need is already on campus. Texas Tech students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Meet in the open and it takes five minutes: the Student Union Building, the Texas Tech Library, or Memorial Circle between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
Know the specs before you buy. Residence hall rooms are furnished with extra-long twin beds, so XL sheets are the only ones that fit. A refrigerator must run at 120 volts and 60 hertz and stay within a standard small size of 3.7 cubic feet, and microwave ovens must operate at 1,500 watts or less. Candles and incense are banned lit or unlit, along with open-faced and heating appliances — hot plates, broilers, space heaters, immersion heaters, toaster ovens, air fryers and George Foreman grills — and knives of two inches or more. The halls are pet-free except for fish in tanks under five gallons. Texas Tech requires enrolled first-year students to live in the residence halls.

Where should I meet to hand something off?
Somewhere public and central. Student Union Building and Texas Tech Library are the easiest — busy, well-lit, and everyone knows where they are.
What if nobody's selling what I need?
Post it on the Looking For board. Other Texas Tech students can see what's in demand, and you'll get notified when someone lists a match.
