College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Every account is verified with a @student.tsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Tigers, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
Housing at TSU splits cleanly by class year, and that split drives what shows up for sale. First-year Tigers live in Lanier West and Transformation Village on the men's side and in University Courtyard and Tierwester Oaks on the women's side. Upperclassmen move into apartment-style living at Cullen Oaks, The Icon, and The Lofts, where the floor plans run from a studio or efficiency all the way up to five bedrooms with five baths. Going from a shared freshman room to a four-bedroom apartment means needing furniture you never needed before, and the students moving out are the ones selling it. Everything you need is already on campus. TSU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Check the details before you buy, because bed size is not the same across campus. Every room comes with a bed, a desk, and a chair, and the rest is on you. Transformation Village and Lanier West use extra long twin beds. Cullen Oaks, University Courtyard, and Tierwester Oaks are full size. The Icon and The Lofts range from twin to king depending on the unit. That makes sheets, mattress toppers, and bed frames the easiest thing to buy wrong, so confirm your community before you hand over cash. Every residential community has laundry on site, but you need a $10 laundry card to get started. TSU does not publish a refrigerator cubic-foot cap or a microwave wattage limit online, those specifics come in your move-in packet, so ask before you buy a big appliance secondhand. Candles and incense are prohibited in all on-campus facilities.
Meeting up is easy when the whole campus is walkable. Trade in the Sterling Student Life Center between classes, on the steps of the Robert J. Terry Library when you're handing off textbooks, or along Tiger Walk in the middle of the afternoon when it's busiest. Your Tiger One ID gets you into your own community, so pick a spot both of you can actually reach. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
