College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee. Every account is verified with a @tntech.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Golden Eagles — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Tech's housing is organized around three residential quads, and the resale market moves with them. Capital Quad holds all-male Browning Hall and Evins Hall, all-female Cooper Hall and Dunn Hall, the co-ed Ellington Hall and Warf Hall, and Maddux Hall and McCord Hall, which are dedicated to engineering majors. Pinkerton Quad covers Jobe Hall and Murphy Hall — Murphy is home to Honors specialty housing — plus M.S. Cooper Hall and Pinkerton Hall, and the private-bath North Hall and South Hall. Crawford Hall sits on the Main Quad, and sophomores and above can move across Willow Avenue into Tech Village Apartments. New first-time freshmen are required to live on campus unless they qualify for a release, so everything you need is already on campus. Tennessee Tech students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the rules before you buy. Residence hall rooms already come with a bed, desk, chair, dresser and closet, but no trash can, so that's a first-week purchase. Sheet size is the detail people get wrong here: most halls take regular twin sheets, South Hall takes extra-long twin, and North Hall varies by room type, so confirm the room before you buy bedding. Beds can be raised or lofted to a set height, but bed risers are banned outright, which makes under-bed bins the smarter buy. Mini fridges have to be 4.4 cubic feet or smaller and microwaves under 1,000 watts, with convection microwave ovens prohibited. Personal-size air fryers, blenders, induction cooktops and Keurigs are allowed; extension cords, wireless routers, halogen lamps, hot plates, slow cookers, toaster ovens, space heaters, waterbeds and window air conditioners are not. Tech Village apartments arrive unfurnished apart from a stove, dishwasher and refrigerator, so furniture listings move fast there.

Meet up somewhere busy. The Roaden University Center is the natural handoff point, with The Caf on its first floor, and the Angelo & Jennette Volpe Library, the Marc L. Burnett Recreation Center, and the University Store all work just as well in daylight with people around. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
