Temple has eight residence halls housing more than 5,000 students on Main Campus. Whether you're in the twin first-year towers Johnson and Hardwick, in Morgan Hall North or South, in James S. White Hall, 1300, or 1940, or in the Temple Towers apartments, everything you need is already a short walk from class. Owls post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Plenty of Temple students live off campus around North Philly and commute in, and they use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.

A city campus makes this easier, not harder

Buying furniture in Philadelphia usually means arranging a meetup somewhere across the city with someone you've never met. On Temple's campus you're both already walking past the same handful of buildings every day. The Howard Gittis Student Center, Charles Library, the IBC Student Recreation Center, and the Esposito Dining Center are all within a few minutes of every residence hall — pick one and the handoff takes five minutes with no travel at all.

One detail worth checking before you buy

Mattress sizes aren't uniform at Temple. 1300 Residence Hall's first through third floor suites use a standard twin (75" x 39"), while every other hall uses twin extra-long (80" x 39"). If you're buying sheets, a mattress topper, or bedding secondhand, check which building the seller lived in — that four-inch difference is the most common thing people get wrong.

Textbooks without the bookstore markup

Course materials for engineering, business, and the health professions run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Owl who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
