College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Every account is verified with a @usm.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Golden Eagles — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Most first-year Golden Eagles start out in Century Park. Century Park 1, Century Park 2, Century Park 3, and Century Park 4 make up the Century Park North complex, while Luckyday Citizenship Hall, Vann Hall, and Scott Hall sit in Century Park South. Hillcrest Hall and Wilber Hall are open to freshmen and upperclassmen alike, and returning students spread into Oseola McCarty Hall, Scholarship Hall, Hattiesburg Hall, and the juniors-and-seniors-only Cedarbrook II Apartments. Beginning Fall 2026, freshmen are no longer required to live on campus, which only makes the move-in and move-out churn more unpredictable — and everything you need is already on campus. Southern Miss students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, rugs, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Read the furniture list before you buy anything bulky, because USM rooms arrive fuller than most people expect. A standard double includes two desks, two chairs, two nightstands, two twin XL beds, two chests of drawers, built-in closets, an entertainment center, blinds, and a sink in the room. Southern Miss also supplies a microfridge combination unit or a compact refrigerator/freezer in most student housing spaces, and students are not permitted to bring their own refrigerators or microwaves — so skip those listings entirely and shop for bedding instead. Every residence hall bed takes an extra-long twin; the mattresses are 80 inches long. Lofting and bunking are both prohibited, and bed risers of any kind, including homemade lofts, are banned; the bed frame height can be raised or lowered instead, so measure your clearance before buying under-bed bins. Personal AC units, space heaters, air fryers, toasters, grills, extension cords, string lights, and candles are all on the do-not-bring list, though a single-cup coffee maker with automatic shut-off like a Keurig is allowed.

Keep the handoff somewhere public and busy. The R.C. Cook Union and the Thad Cochran Center are the two obvious indoor crossroads, and Cook Library, the Payne Center, and The Fresh Food Company all work just as well between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
