College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Every account is verified with a @scsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bulldogs, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
SC State's housing map has shifted a lot in the last few years, so where you land shapes what you need to buy. The traditional halls carry most of the campus: Battiste Hall, Earle Hall, Mitchell Hall, and Williams Hall. Hugine Suites is the suite-style option, and the fourteen-story Truth Hall is in the middle of a $25 million renovation scheduled to finish in August 2026 and eventually restore all 384 beds, so check with Residence Life before counting on a room there. The remodeled Queens Village apartment complex has reopened, and upperclass Bulldogs also live in University Village and Campus Corner, leased through the SC State Housing Foundation. Beds are in demand while the university builds and renovates at once, so when an assignment finally lands, everything you need is already on campus. SC State students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Know the rules before you hand over cash. In Hugine Suites the beds are not yours to rearrange: the Fire Marshal approves those rooms for double occupancy only when the beds are bunked, debunked beds get written up at room inspection, and Facilities sends a technician to re-bunk them. Plan your storage around a bunk rather than a loft kit. Refrigerators in Hugine Suites are capped at 2.4 cubic feet and have to fit under the bed or in the closet, and televisions are capped at 32 inches, so check the specs before you buy secondhand. Everyone living in university and Foundation-affiliated housing is on the 21-meals-per-week plan, and you need 12 or more credit hours plus a cleared balance to keep your bed.
Meeting up is simple when everyone is a walk apart. Trade in the lobby of the Kirkland W. Green Student Center, grab a table near The Pitt inside it, meet outside the Miller F. Whittaker Library when you're swapping textbooks, use the plaza by the I.P. Stanback Museum & Planetarium, or hand off gear near Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on a game weekend. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
