College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Seattle University in Seattle, Washington. Every account is verified with a @seattleu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Redhawks — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Seattle U keeps its younger students close to campus. First- and second-year students, along with anyone under 21 before the first day of fall quarter, are required to live on campus for the full academic year unless they win an exemption. New Redhawks usually land in Bellarmine Hall, Campion Hall or Xavier Global House, the traditional halls on the First Hill campus, and many second-years move into the four-person suites and doubles in Chardin Hall. Juniors, seniors and graduate students spread out into the studios, townhouses and quad-style units at Murphy Apartments or the furnished single rooms at The Yobi, and some students live at The Commons at South Lake Union. With everything clustered on one compact urban campus, everything you need is already a short walk away. Seattle U students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, rain gear, bikes and gently used textbooks every quarter — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms come furnished, which changes what's worth buying. Each resident gets a bed and mattress, a modular desk and chair, a wardrobe, shelving and a bulletin board, and most rooms have a sink and mirror built in. Bellarmine, Campion, Xavier and Chardin rooms include a MicroFridge — a combined microwave and mini fridge — so a second fridge is usually redundant. Beds can be bunked, and lofting is done through a housing work order with a 31-inch maximum, but bed risers are banned in every SU residential community, so don't buy them. Air conditioning isn't listed as a standard room amenity, which is why fans move quickly in September. Halogen lamps, candles, incense and other open-flame items, water-filled furniture and hoverboards are all prohibited; fish in tanks of 10 gallons or less are the only pets allowed.

Handoffs are simple here. Meet a buyer at Cherry Street Market in the Student Center, inside the Lemieux Library & McGoldrick Learning Commons, outside the Eisiminger Fitness Center, on the steps of the Chapel of St. Ignatius, or out on The Quad. All are public, busy and minutes from every hall: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
