College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. Every account is verified with a @selu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Lions — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
Southeastern requires unmarried, full-time undergraduates with fewer than 60 hours to live on campus when space is available, which keeps the halls full and the turnover steady. Most students start out in the traditional halls — St. Tammany Hall, Washington Hall, Tangipahoa Hall, Hammond Hall, Pride Hall, Taylor Hall, Louisiana Hall, Livingston Hall, and Cardinal Newman Hall — while Ascension Hall and Twelve Oaks Hall pull in honors students and returning residents on suite-style floors. Upperclassmen who clear 30 hours and a 2.3 GPA can move over to the Southeastern Oaks Apartments, and Village M Residence Hall sits out at the Village. Wherever you land, everything you need is already on campus. Southeastern students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Every room comes furnished, and the details matter when you're shopping. Hall mattresses are extra-long twin at 36 by 80 inches, but the Southeastern Oaks apartments use full beds with an eight-inch foam mattress, so check your building before you buy sheets. Standard double rooms come with two bunkable twin beds, two desks, two chairs, and two armoires; Ascension and Twelve Oaks issue a mid-loft adjustable bed, a 48-inch desk and chair, and a two-drawer chest. Bed risers are allowed in St. Tammany, Washington, Pride, Hammond, Taylor, Tangipahoa, Livingston, and Louisiana, but only high-density polyethylene risers rated to 1,200 pounds, never more than six inches, and never under bunked beds — metal, wood, cinder block, and PVC are all banned. Mini fridges top out at 5 cubic feet and microwaves at 1,000 watts, though Ascension, Twelve Oaks, and the Oaks apartments already include appliances. Leave space heaters, toasters, pressure cookers, halogen lamps, extension cords, and window units at home.
When it's time to hand something off, stay somewhere busy. The War Memorial Student Union is the natural first stop, with The Mane Dish right there at meal times, and the Linus A. Sims Memorial Library and the Pennington Student Activity Center both work well between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
