College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Every account is verified with a @shsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bearkats — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

SHSU housing spreads across three distinct kinds of living, and each one drives its own resale traffic. The traditional and suite-style halls include Belvin-Buchanan Hall, Elliott Hall, Estill Hall, Lone Star Hall, Piney Woods Hall, San Jacinto Hall, and White Hall, while Jackson-Shaver Hall, Raven Village, and Sam Houston Village are built around private bedrooms. The four small houses over on 17th Street — Baldwin House, Crawford House, Creager House, and Mallon House — are the smallest communities on campus. Sophomores and above can move into apartment living at Bearkat Village Apartments, Campus Edge Apartments, and Copper Village Apartments. Anyone entering SHSU within a year of high school graduation is required to live on campus and carry a resident meal plan that first year, so everything you need is already on campus. Sam Houston students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the rules before you buy anything bulky. Rooms arrive furnished with a bed, a desk with drawers, a chair, a mirror, a dresser, shelving, and closet space. Most halls use Twin XL mattresses at 36 by 78 inches, but Jackson-Shaver, Copper Village, and the San Jacinto Hall studios take full-size bedding, so confirm your building before you buy sheets secondhand. Every room is air conditioned, some by central air and some by window units. Lofts are prohibited outright, homemade or commercial, though beds designed to bunk can be bunked with help from maintenance — which is why under-bed bins move faster here than risers. Refrigerators have to be 5.0 cubic feet or smaller, and roommates' combined fridge space can't top 10 cubic feet. Personal microwaves aren't permitted at all; several halls come with built-in micro/fridge units and the rest have lobby microwaves, so skip the microwave listings. Hot pots, space heaters, toaster ovens, hot plates, halogen lamps, extension cords, and personal routers are all banned too.

For handoffs, stay central and stay busy. The Lowman Student Center is the natural first choice, and Newton Gresham Library and the Mall both work just as well in daylight with people around. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
