College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey. Every account is verified with a @saintpeters.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Peacocks — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Saint Peter's runs a compact residential campus a few minutes' walk from class and a PATH ride from Manhattan, and nearly everyone lives in one of four buildings. First-year students choose between Millennium Hall and Whelan Hall, both traditional double-occupancy halls with communal bathrooms, kitchenettes and lounges on every floor, study rooms, computer labs, and free laundry. Upperclass students move into apartment-style Durant Hall, where two- and four-person units have their own kitchens and bathrooms, or into Panepinto Hall, the suite building that opened in September 2022 and pairs two double rooms around a shared bathroom and a common kitchen. Residence Life lowered housing rates across the halls for 2026-27, and everything you need is already on campus. Saint Peter's students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

The housing rules are what make buying secondhand worth it here. Beds take Twin XL sheets, not standard twin. Lofts are prohibited outright, so bed risers and under-bed bins do the work instead. Personal air conditioners are not permitted without a documented medical exception approved through Health Services, which makes fans move fast in late August. Appliance limits split by building: in Millennium and Whelan, microwaves must be University-issued, one per resident, and a personal refrigerator has to be University-issued or under 2 cubic feet; in Durant and Panepinto it's one microwave per apartment, a University-issued fridge per apartment, and one each of a rice cooker, crockpot, blender, or toaster as long as it has auto shut-off. Anything over 500 watts is out, along with televisions bigger than 42 inches, multi-plug adapters, halogen and lava lamps, and candles. Surge-protected power strips are fine. Every room and apartment already has basic cable, and laundry is free.

When it's time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy and central. The Mac Mahon Student Center, the Theresa & Edward O'Toole Library, the Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center, and the lobby of Saint Peter Hall are all short walks from every residence hall: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
