College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Every account is verified with a @mail.sacredheart.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Pioneers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Pioneers move into Elizabeth Ann Seton Hall, Thomas Merton Hall, Angelo Roncalli Hall, and Pierre Toussaint Hall, or into the pod-style Mother Teresa of Calcutta Hall, St. Catherine of Siena Hall, and Michael McGivney Hall. Sophomores spread out into the suite-style Scholars Commons and Christian Witness Commons, plus Elie Wiesel Hall, Pier Giorgio Frassati Hall, Frances Xavier Cabrini Hall, Jorge Bergoglio Hall, and Thea Bowman Hall. Juniors and seniors move to the apartment and townhouse communities SHU owns a half mile or so from the Park Avenue campus and assigns through Residential Life: Oakwood Gardens, Pioneer Gardens, and The Ridge Apartments & Townhouses, all on the shuttle route. Between the halls and the apartments, everything you need is already on campus. SHU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

A traditional room arrives with a desk and chair per resident, an adjustable bed, a three-drawer dresser, a clothes armoire, a cable jack, and a micro-fridge unit already installed, which is why SHU prohibits any additional refrigerator or microwave in the halls. Your own microwave is allowed only in Oakwood Gardens and The Ridge, where the apartments come with a full kitchen, stove and oven, and a full-size fridge. Seton, Scholars Commons, and Christian Witness Commons rooms have their own air-conditioning and heating units. Don't plan on lofting your bed yourself: lofting is done on the official move-in days only, and you sign up in the lobby of Merton, Seton, or Roncalli to have it done for you. University furniture has to stay in the room. Leave the halogen lamps, toaster ovens, open-burner appliances, extension cords and multiplugs, hoverboards, e-scooters, and upholstered furniture taller than 24 inches at home — surge-protecting power strips with switches are fine.

When it's time to hand something off, pick a spot with people around. The Linda E. McMahon Student Commons, the Ryan Matura Library, JP's Diner, the William H. Pitt Athletic & Convocation Center, and Martire Family Arena are all easy meets between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
