College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for California State University, Sacramento in Sacramento, California. Every account is verified with a @csus.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Hornets, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Nearly all of Sac State's on-campus housing sits in North Village, and every newly admitted first-year student is required to live there unless they qualify for an exemption. First-year residents fill Desmond Hall, Draper Hall, Jenkins Hall, Klamath Hall and Sierra Hall, the three-story winged-corridor buildings with community bathrooms on every floor, along with the much larger Riverview Hall and, new for fall 2026, Mt. Whitney Hall, a five-story building for 335 students with all-gender bathrooms throughout. Sophomores, juniors, seniors, transfer and graduate students move into the suites, apartments and studios at American River Courtyard or the two- and four-bedroom units at Hornet Commons on State University Drive. Wherever you land, everything you need is already on campus. Sac State students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the housing rules before you buy anything. Every bed in North Village is an extra-long twin at 80 inches, so bedding has to be X-long twin, 36 by 80 inches; a standard twin sheet set will not fit. Rooms already come with the bed and mattress, a desk and chair, a closet or wardrobe, carpet, window coverings and trash and recycling bins. Riverview adds a dresser, and Hornet Commons bedrooms include a ceiling fan and two stackable dressers. Beds can be bunked, but only with university-provided equipment: residents may not build their own loft or bunk, and bed risers of any material, cinder blocks, bricks, wood blocks or PVC, are banned outright, so skip the riser sets. One refrigerator per room, no larger than 4.5 cubic feet or 1.5 running amps. One microwave per room, under 700 watts. Space heaters, halogen lamps and anything with an exposed heating element are prohibited, and university furniture has to stay assembled and in the room.

When it is time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy and central: the University Union, the University Library or the Library Quad just outside it, The WELL between classes, or The Servery at the Dining Commons during a meal rush. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
