College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Every account is verified with a @richmond.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Spiders — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Spiders start out in Dennis Hall, Marsh Hall, Moore Hall, Robins Hall, or Lora Robins Court, which are mostly traditional doubles with hall bathrooms and the occasional single or triple. Returning students spread across Wood Hall, Gray Court, North Court, South Court, Westhampton Hall, Keller Hall, Lakeview Hall, and the three newer buildings — Residence Hall 1, Residence Hall 2, and Residence Hall 3. Juniors and seniors can also enter the lottery for University Forest Apartments or Gateway Village Apartments. Because nearly everyone lives a short walk from everyone else, everything you need is already on campus. Richmond students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

A few room details are worth knowing before you buy anything. Every bed on campus is 6'8" long, so extra-long twin sheets are the safe purchase; Residence Life will swap in a bed up to 7' on request, ideally during spring room selection. Rooms already come furnished with a bed, a three- to five-drawer chest, a desk with a shelf or study carrel, a rolling pedestal, and a desk chair, and apartment units add a dining table and chairs plus a living room sofa with an ottoman. Lofts have to be rented through the University's approved vendor, Dorms Direct, which handles delivery, installation, and pickup — and beds of different sizes cannot be bunked together, so secondhand loft hardware is rarely worth the money. Air conditioning depends on the building; Wood Hall has it in every room, and the University does turn cooling off briefly during the seasonal switch between heating and cooling, which is exactly when fans and small appliances move fastest here.

When it's time to hand something off, pick somewhere busy. Tyler Haynes Commons is the obvious middle ground between classes, Boatwright Memorial Library works for a quick textbook swap, and Heilman Dining Center catches everyone at mealtime. The Weinstein Center for Recreation is easy if you're trading bikes or gear, and SpiderShop is a simple landmark for anyone still learning campus. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
