College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Every account is verified with a @radford.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Highlanders — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Campus housing is organized around four quads. Governor's Quad holds Floyd Hall, Peery Hall, Stuart Hall and Trinkle Hall; Main Quad covers Madison Hall, Washington Hall and Jefferson Hall; Moffett Quad takes in Draper Hall, Pocahontas Hall, Ingles Hall, Bolling Hall and Moffett Hall; and the 13-floor Muse Hall anchors Muse Quad as the largest residence hall on campus. Upperclass and transfer students can move into the University Apartments along Calhoun, Fairfax, Clement and Downey streets, though first-year students aren't eligible for those. Incoming freshmen on the main campus are required to live on campus for two academic years — four semesters — so nearly everything you need is already within walking distance. Radford students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms arrive furnished: a bed frame, dresser, desk and rolling chair per resident, plus ethernet and cable jacks. Mattresses are Twin XL (80 x 36 inches), so buy Twin XL sheets and skip standard twin sets entirely. Every hall page on the housing site lists heat and air conditioning with an in-room thermostat. Beds adjust in height and can be lofted while loft-kit supplies last, which is why lofting kits and risers move fast in August — just note that bed risers with built-in electrical outlets are banned. Mini fridges have to draw 2 amps or less and microwaves must be 700 watts or less; air fryers, toasters, hot plates and grills are prohibited, as are over-door hangers, nails, mounting putty and extension cords without surge protection. Laundry is free, which is one less thing to shop for.

Meet up where campus is already busy. The Hurlburt Student Center, better known as The Bonnie, and nearby Heth Hall stay crowded between classes, and McConnell Library, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, the open lawn of Moffett Quad and the Dedmon Athletic Center all work for a quick handoff. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
