College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Every account is verified with a @quinnipiac.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bobcats — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Quinnipiac is a three-year live-on school. Undergraduates who enroll as first-year students are required to live in QU housing through the end of their sixth academic semester, which means nearly everyone packs, moves, and re-furnishes a room at least twice before senior year. First-years settle onto the Mount Carmel Campus in The Commons, Dana English Hall, The Grove, Irmagarde Tator Hall, The Ledges, and Mountainview. Sophomores move into The Village, The Hill, The Suites — Larson, Perlroth and Troup — and The Complex, made up of Bakke, Founders and Sahlin. Juniors and seniors head up to the York Hill Campus for The Crescent, the Townhouses, Westview, and Eastview, most of which come with a kitchen. With that much turnover, everything you need is already on campus. Quinnipiac students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

The university supplies a bed, a dresser or wardrobe, and a desk and chair; the sheets, towels, curtains and everything else are on you. Mattresses are Twin XL, so bring the right linens the first time. Newer buildings like The Grove use loftable twin XL wood frames, but non-university-owned lofts are prohibited, so plan around what the room already has. Personal refrigerators can't exceed 3.6 cubic feet — or you can rent a MicroFridge through the university's vendor — and non-university-approved air conditioning units aren't allowed, though The Grove and The Suites are air-conditioned. Air fryers, hot plates, halogen lamps, candles and anything that hangs from the ceiling are all on the prohibited list, and every resident carries a meal plan. That's why fans, shelving, rugs, small lamps and under-bed storage move so fast here.

When it's time to hand something over, meet somewhere busy. The Carl Hansen Student Center and the Arnold Bernhard Library are the easy picks on Mount Carmel, along with the Recreation and Wellness Center and The Quad; up on York Hill, the Rocky Top Student Center and the entrance to M&T Bank Arena work just as well. Ten minutes between classes and you're done: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
