Buying & selling at Purdue Fort Wayne
Campus details for PFW students.
College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Purdue University Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Every account is verified with a @pfw.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Mastodons — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
Where Mastodons buy and sell
PFW's campus housing is unusual: it's entirely apartment-style, and the buildings are identified by letter rather than name — Buildings C, D, F, H, I, J, K, L and M, each with different layouts. Some give you a private bedroom and bathroom with an in-unit washer/dryer; others are shared bedrooms with a divider. New for fall 2026 is The Trace, a 600-bed complex on North Campus off St. Joe Road, with a PFW Campus Shuttle stop. Canterbury Green covers summer housing. Mastodons post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, seating, kitchen gear, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
600 new beds arrive this August
The Trace opens for fall 2026 — 601 beds across 176 units, studio to four-bedroom, furnished with utilities included. PFW's existing housing has been at full capacity for six consecutive fall semesters, so this is a big change: hundreds of students moving into brand-new furnished apartments at once, and plenty of others shuffling between buildings. Worth watching the feed closely in August.
Apartments are furnished — so buy the extras, not the furniture
PFW says it directly: student housing apartments come furnished, but you need to bring linens, cooking supplies, and toiletries yourself. That flips the usual advice. A couch or a desk isn't what you need here — it's sheets, pots and pans, a shower caddy, storage. Those are what actually change hands between Mastodons each semester.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. Walb Student Union and Helmke Library are a short walk from Student Housing, with the Hilliard Gates Sports Center close by. If you're at The Trace on North Campus, the PFW Campus Shuttle connects you to main campus — meet at Walb rather than splitting the difference. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Fort Wayne to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for engineering, nursing, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Mastodon who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.

Help & FAQ
Common questions from PFW students.
Is this only for PFW students?
Each campus is its own marketplace. You'll only see listings from people who verified with a PFW email address, and they'll only see yours.
Does it cost anything?
No. Listing and browsing are free, and we don't take a cut — you handle payment directly with the other student, however you both prefer.
Where should I meet to hand something off?
Somewhere public and central. Walb Student Union and Helmke Library are the easiest — busy, well-lit, and everyone knows where they are.
What if nobody's selling what I need?
Stick to busy, well-lit public spots. Walb Student Union and Helmke Library are the easiest PFW handoff points, both a short walk from Student Housing. If one of you is at The Trace on North Campus, the campus shuttle makes Walb an easy middle. Meet during daylight hours.
