College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. Every account is verified with a @princeton.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Tigers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Princeton housing runs on two tracks. Every first-year and sophomore is required to live and dine in one of the seven residential colleges — Butler College, Forbes College, Huo College, Mathey College, Rockefeller College, Whitman College, and Yeh College — while juniors and seniors either stay with their college or go through the upperclass room draw for 1901-Laughlin Hall, 1903 Hall, Brown Hall, Cuyler Hall, Dod Hall, Feinberg Hall, Foulke Hall, Henry Hall, Little Hall, Lockhart Hall, Patton Hall, Pyne Hall, Scully Hall, Spelman Halls, Walker Hall, and Wright Hall, plus the smaller houses at 2 Dickinson Street and 99 Alexander Street. Between the two-year requirement and the draw, nearly everything you need is already inside FitzRandolph Gate. Princeton students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms arrive furnished with an extra-long twin bed, a dresser, a desk and chair, a small bookcase, waste and recycling cans, and a closet or secured wardrobe for each occupant. You supply the bedding, and that means twin XL linens and a mattress cover rather than standard twin. In Butler College and most upperclass dorms you can bunk or unbunk the beds yourself; in the other residential colleges you submit a work order to the Facilities Service Center instead. The appliance rules are strict enough that they are worth checking before you buy anything secondhand. Standard microwaves are banned outright, and the only combination unit permitted is a MicroFridge-brand microwave and minifridge rented through Princeton Student Agencies. Toasters, toaster ovens, air fryers, Instant Pots, rice cookers, hot plates, space heaters, halogen lamps, candles, and window air conditioners are all prohibited. Some dorms have no air conditioning at all, which is why electric fans and breaker-equipped power strips move fast in late August.

For the handoff itself, pick somewhere busy and public. The Frist Campus Center is the easiest all-weather option, and Firestone Library, Dillon Gymnasium, Nassau Hall, Cannon Green, and FitzRandolph Gate all work for a quick daylight swap between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
