Buying & selling at Oklahoma State University

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Every account is verified with a @okstate.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Cowboys — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
Where Cowboys buy and sell
OSU housing runs from historic traditional halls to modern apartments. Whether you're in Stout, Wentz, Parker, or Iba — halls built between 1949 and 1970 that have housed generations of Cowboys — in the University Commons complex, in the suites at The Villages or Bennett Hall, in deluxe suites at Booker-Stinchcomb, Patchin-Jones, or Zink-Allen, or in apartment-style living at Bost, Davis, Kamm, Morsani-Smith, Peterson-Friend, Payne Ellis, Sitlington, or Young, everything you need is already on campus. OSU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Students living off campus around Stillwater use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The Student Union — one of the largest in the country — plus the Edmon Low Library, the Colvin Recreation Center, and Theta Pond are all easy meeting points between classes. From most halls the Library is under ten minutes on foot and Colvin is closer than that. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Stillwater to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for engineering, agriculture, business, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Cowboy who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
The weeks that matter most
Move-in in August and move-out in May are when the marketplace is busiest. OSU halls stay open over semester breaks so residents can come and go, which means the big turnover really is concentrated at the two ends of the year. If you're selling, post before the rush. If you're buying, that's when the good stuff appears and disappears the same day.
