College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Every account is verified with a @mymail.nku.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Norse — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Nearly all of NKU's housing sits inside the Leon E. Boothe Residential Village, so the whole market is walkable. First-years land in the traditional double rooms of Commonwealth Hall and Kentucky Hall, or in the four-person suites of New Residence Hall. Returning and upper-division students move over to University Suites, with its two- and four-bedroom suites, or to Norse Hall, whose apartment-style units and studio efficiencies come closest to living on your own. Because every first-time, full-time undergraduate has to live on campus for their first two semesters, everything you need is already here. Northern Kentucky students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Knowing what's already in the room is what saves you money. Every space comes with an extra-long, height-adjustable twin bed measuring 36 by 80 inches, so buy Twin XL sheets. You also get a dresser, a desk and desk chair, built-in closet or wardrobe storage, and a shared mini fridge that is already installed — any additional fridge has to stay under two cubic feet. Microwaves are allowed; air fryers, toasters and George Foreman grills are not, because of the open heating element. Beds adjust between 10 and 36 inches and lofts are rented through bedloft.com, but the original furniture never leaves the room, which is why risers, shelving and organizers move so quickly in August. Laundry is free for residents, and you supply your own kitchen gear for the community kitchens, plus a shower curtain and window curtains.

Meeting up is easy when everyone lives in the same village. Norse Commons is the natural handoff point — housing office, residential mail and the Village Cafe in one building. W. Frank Steely Library works when you want somewhere quiet between classes, the Campus Recreation Center stays busy from morning until close, and Truist Arena is the simplest landmark for anyone driving in. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

First-year move-in is Thursday, August 20, 2026, with returning and upper-division students arriving August 21 through 23 — that stretch is when listings turn over fastest.
