College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. Every account is verified with a @ndsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bison — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
First-year students land in the traditional halls — Burgum Hall, Churchill Hall, Dinan Hall, Reed/Johnson Hall, Stockbridge Hall and Weible Hall — or in suite-style Pavek Hall, Sevrinson Hall and Thompson Hall. Sophomores and above move into Cater Hall, apartment-style Niskanen Hall and the Mathew Living Learning Center, while juniors, seniors and graduate students spread out into NDSU's own apartments: Apartment 1701, Bison Court, Niskanen Expansion and University Village. With that much turnover every August and May, everything you need is already on campus. NDSU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Check what your room already has before you buy anything. Residence hall rooms come furnished with beds, desks, chairs and built-in or moveable closets and dressers depending on the building, while the campus apartments are unfurnished, which is why couches and kitchen tables move fast in May. Most halls use extra-long twin mattresses, so twin XL sheets are the safe buy; Burgum and Weible have regular twins (38" x 75"), and Residence Life still recommends XL sheets because they fit both. Beds can only be raised using the frame NDSU provides or a loft rented from CSI — bed risers and self-built lofts are not allowed in any hall or apartment, and lofts and bunked beds cannot sit in front of windows on the first three floors. Personal refrigerators have to stay under five cubic feet and microwaves at 1,000 watts or less. Air fryers, toasters, toaster ovens, instant pots, rice cookers, hot plates and electric grills are prohibited except in Niskanen Hall, the Mathew Living Learning Center and the apartments, so check your building before you take someone's countertop appliance off their hands.
Meeting up is simple on a campus this walkable. Trade in the open at the Memorial Union, inside the NDSU Main Library, by the front desk of the NDSU Wellness Center, or over a meal at the West Dining Center or the Residence Dining Center. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
