Buying & selling at Nicholls

Campus details for Nicholls students.

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Every account is verified with a @nicholls.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Colonels, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

On-campus housing at Nicholls is small enough to learn in a week. Ellender Hall is the quad-suite building, where two room spaces share an open hallway and a central bathroom. Babington Hall is the privacy option, with single suites that share a bathroom between two residents, and South Babington houses the CROWN and Legacy Leaders living learning communities. Calecas Hall is the one-story hall beside the Nicholls State Police station and home to the pet-friendly living learning community. Millet Hall, Scholars Hall, and Zeringue Hall offer semi-private and private suites, and the Brady Complex Apartments add two-bedroom and four-bedroom units. Students under 20 have to live on campus unless they qualify for an exemption, so everything you need is already on campus. Nicholls students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Knowing what the room already gives you saves real money. Rooms come furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and dresser, plus a ceiling fan and high-speed wireless internet. Ellender rooms hold two twin beds, two desks, and two closets; Babington singles come with one Twin XL bed, a desk, and a built-in closet or wardrobe. Buy Twin XL sheets for the standard halls, since Brady Complex beds are the only ones that take full size. One mini fridge per room is allowed at 5 to 7 cubic feet or smaller, microwaves are permitted, and a Keurig or drip coffee maker is fine if it has no open heating element. Hot plates, halogen lamps, space heaters, candles, and water beds are out. You can add your own furniture but cannot remove what is already in the room, so measure before buying a futon.

When it is time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy. The Donald G. Bollinger Memorial Student Union is the easy first choice, with the food court, the University Bookstore, and the post office under one roof, and the Allen J. Ellender Memorial Library, the Harold J. Callais Memorial Recreation Center, and the Vernon F. Galliano Dining Hall all work for bigger items you would rather carry straight to a car. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall 2026 move-in weekend runs August 13 through August 16, and that stretch is when listings move fastest. Move-out on December 9 and May 12 brings the same rush in reverse.

Who can use College Marketplace at Nicholls?

Only students with a verified @nicholls.edu email address. Every listing you see was posted by another Nicholls student, and your listings are only visible to the Nicholls community.

Is it free to buy and sell at Nicholls?

Yes. Buying, selling, and messaging are completely free. The only optional cost is a featured listing boost, which puts your item at the top of the Nicholls feed for $2.99 for 7 days.

How do I pay the other student?

You arrange payment directly with each other — cash, Venmo, Zelle, whatever you both agree on. No money runs through the app, and there are no transaction fees.

Where should I meet to buy or sell on Nicholls's campus?
