College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Niagara University in Lewiston, New York. Every account is verified with a @mail.niagara.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Purple Eagles — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Niagara is a two-year live-on campus: students are required to live in the residence halls for their first two years, with exceptions for commuters, transfers, married students, veterans and independent students. First-year and upper-division students share the two high-rises, Seton Hall and O'Shea Hall, while Clet Hall sits above the Niagara River Gorge and O'Donoughue Hall and Lynch Hall run mostly singles for upper-class students. Juniors, seniors and graduate students move up to the Eagle Circle Apartments, the theme and program houses of Varsity Village, The Justice Houses, or Roosevelt House and Hyde Park House. Everything you need is already on campus. Niagara students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

The housing rules here shape what's actually worth buying secondhand. A standard room already comes with two beds, two desks, two chairs, two wardrobes and two two-drawer cabinets, and you can't bring your own bed, mattress, desk or desk chair. Sheets are the one thing people get wrong: Niagara's move-in list says standard twin sheets will fit, not the twin XL most schools use, so check the label before you take someone's leftover set. Lofting is out too — the residence hall policies prohibit raising furniture off the floor or stacking it — so skip the risers and cinder blocks. Mini-fridges are allowed up to 4.5 cubic feet, but microwaves, toaster ovens and other cooking appliances stay out of the rooms and live in the floor lounges instead. There are no air conditioners permitted, so fans move fast in late August. Extension cords are prohibited; a UL-approved power strip with an on/off reset button is fine.

Meet up somewhere busy and central. The Gallagher Center, The Dining Commons in Clet Hall, the Niagara University Library, Dwyer Arena and the Castellani Art Museum are all short walks from the halls: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Timing helps. New students move in Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon, and returning students follow Aug. 29-30 — the busiest weekend of the year for fridges, fans and furniture, with the deals coming back around at move-out.
