College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut. Every account is verified with a @unh.newhaven.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Chargers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Chargers land in Bergami Hall, Bethel Hall, Bixler Hall, Gerber Hall or Westside Hall, a mix of suites and traditional doubles at the center of campus. Sophomores move into the apartment-style buildings — Celentano Hall, Dunham Hall, Sheffield Hall and Winchester Hall — where kitchens and kitchenettes start replacing the meal-plan-only routine. Juniors and seniors spread out into The Atwood and Park View at University Commons, the Forest Hills Apartments and Ruden Street Apartments, and the smaller Campbell Houses and Ricardo Street House. Guaranteed housing runs eight consecutive semesters for new full-time fall students — four years of packing, unpacking and re-furnishing. New Haven students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Most rooms arrive with a desk, a chair, a mattress, a bedframe and a wardrobe, though rooms with built-in closets skip the wardrobe, and neither The Atwood nor Park View comes with a desk or chair — which is why desks and chairs move fast there. Beds are twin XL, so buy the long sheets. The frames are adjustable and you can raise or lower your own bed, but lofting and bunking are not allowed without approval and a work order to Facilities, so risers and bins tend to beat loft kits here. Many halls are air conditioned and some are not, and personal AC units are prohibited, so fans sell out early in September. Residential Life rents mini-fridge and microwave combos through MicroFridge with an August 1 deadline for the fall, and plenty of students skip that and buy a used unit from someone moving out.

When it's time to hand something off, pick somewhere busy and well lit. The Marvin K. Peterson Library and the Bergami Center for Science, Technology, and Innovation are the easy weekday options, the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center and the Jeffrey P. Hazell Athletic Center work at night, and the Campus Store and Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium are simple landmarks for anyone still learning campus. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
