On-campus housing at UNLV is built around four complexes. Most first-year students land in the Dayton Complex, made up of Dayton North and Dayton South, which is the option flagged as fulfilling the first-year residency requirement. The Tonopah Complex — Tonopah Center, Tonopah North, and Tonopah South — and the South Complex halls Boyd Hall, Rodman Hall, and Williams Hall mix first-year and upper-class residents. Students past their first year who want a deluxe single with its own living and study area head to the Upper Class Complex (UCC). Wherever you end up, everything you need is already on campus. UNLV students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms arrive furnished with a bed, desk, desk chair, dresser, closet or wardrobe, and wastebasket, and every complex includes A/C, heating, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Bed size is the thing to check before you buy sheets: Dayton, Tonopah, and South Complex use twin beds, while UCC rooms are Full XL, and deluxe UCC singles come with a sofa and a 32" TV already in place. Housing rules shape what is worth buying secondhand here. Each resident may keep one refrigerator of roughly 3.2 cubic feet or less. Microwaves are not allowed in student rooms at all, since each complex has communal ones cleaned daily, and air fryers, toaster ovens, hot plates, grills, space heaters, halogen lamps, and extension cords are prohibited. Cinder blocks, non-university-approved lofts, and stacking beds on other furniture are banned too, so skip the DIY riser rigs and shop for a mattress topper, a fan, surge protectors, and a floor lamp, which UCC rooms especially need.

When it is time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy. The Student Union, Lied Library, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, the Hazel M. Wilson Dining Commons, and the UNLV Bookstore are all short walks from the residence halls. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

The busiest stretch is move-in: first-year residents arrive August 16 for Rebel Ready Week and upper-class residents on August 20, with flexible check-in August 17–19 and August 21–23.
