College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Every account is verified with a @msmary.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Mountaineers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Mountaineers land in Pangborn Hall, Sheridan Hall, Bradley Hall, or one of the Terrace Complex buildings, where McCaffrey Hall holds the Honors ILLC alongside general first-year rooms. Sophomores through seniors spread out into Brute Hall and DuBois Hall and the suite-style Annex Suites and Powell Hall, while juniors and seniors compete for the University Cottages and the University Apartments in the Keelty, Rooney and Horning towers. Every first-year student is required to live on campus unless they commute daily from a parent or guardian's home, which means the whole freshman class furnishes a room in the same August week and clears it out again in May. That churn is what makes a campus marketplace work: everything you need is already on campus. Mount St. Mary's students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms come standard with an extra-long twin bed (36" x 80"), a desk with chair, a dresser and a closet, so buy Twin XL sheets and pass on anything cut for a regular twin. Personal refrigerators are not allowed in standard residence hall rooms — the Mount rents MicroFridge units instead — and personal microwaves are only permitted where there is a full kitchen, which means the cottages, apartments and university-owned houses. Those units already include a full-size refrigerator, so the microwave is the piece actually worth buying secondhand. Air conditioning is the other dividing line: it is listed for Powell Hall, the Annex Suites, the cottages and the apartments, so fans and box units move fast among everyone else.

Campus is compact enough that handoffs take five minutes. Trade outside Patriot Dining Hall between meals, at the circulation desk in Phillips Library, over coffee at Saxbys Café on the second floor of the Knott Academic Center, in the lobby of the Knott Athletic Recreation Convocation Complex (ARCC), or at The PAC (Palmieri Activities Center) — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
