College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Every account is verified with a @mtmail.mtsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Blue Raiders — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

MTSU spreads its housing across four campus areas, and the marketplace follows the same map. Mid-campus fills up with Beasley Hall, Gracy Hall, Judd Hall, Sims Hall, and Smith Hall, several of which anchor living-learning communities. West campus is home to the Lyon Hall Complex and the Monohan Complex, while Corlew Hall and Cummings Hall hold down north campus and Deere Hall, Nicks Hall, and House 7 — the Global Learning Community on the Row — sit out east. Upperclass students who want a kitchen and a private bedroom head for the Scarlett Commons Apartments near the Recreation Center. MTSU does not require anyone to live on campus, so there's constant churn between the halls, the apartments, and off-campus places around Murfreesboro — which means everything you need is already on campus. Middle Tennessee students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Know the rules before you buy. Hall rooms come furnished with a twin XL bed, a chest, a desk and chair, and a closet for each resident, so bring twin XL sheets and skip the standard twin set. Refrigerators cannot exceed 3.7 cubic feet, 50 pounds, or a 3.0 amp draw, and microwaves are capped at 750 watts, which is exactly why secondhand units that already meet the limits move so fast here. Air fryers, Instant Pots, toasters, toaster ovens, halogen lamps, extension cords, and personal wireless routers are all prohibited — crockpots are fine. Nothing gets nailed or screwed into the block walls, so command strips and freestanding shelving are worth more than a drill.

Meet in daylight in a place with people around. The Student Union Building, the James E. Walker Library, the Keathley University Center, the Recreation Center, and the Scarlett Commons Clubhouse all work: busy, central, and a short walk from almost any hall. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
