Whether you're up on the Hill in Mary Markley, Mosher-Jordan, Couzens, Stockwell, or Alice Lloyd, on Central Campus in South Quad, West Quad, East Quad, or North Quad, out on North Campus in Bursley or Baits II, or in one of the smaller houses like Betsy Barbour, Helen Newberry, Martha Cook, or Fletcher, everything you need is already on campus. Michigan students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Students living off campus around State Street, South U, and Kerrytown use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
A big year for on-campus housing
Wolverine Village opens on Central Campus for fall 2026, adding roughly 2,300 beds across five new residence halls — Buildings 1 through 4 plus Dr. E. Royster Harper Hall — along with a new dining hall. That means an unusually large wave of students furnishing rooms from scratch in August, and it's worth watching the feed early if you're buying.
Meeting up on a campus this big
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The Michigan Union, Angell Hall, the Central Campus Recreation Building, and Pierpont Commons on North Campus are all easy meeting points between classes, and the U-M buses cover the rest. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Ann Arbor to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for engineering, business, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Wolverine who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
The weeks that matter most
Move-in in August and move-out in late April are when the marketplace is busiest. Graduating seniors and students heading home for the summer are clearing out furniture, fridges, and storage all at once, and incoming students need all of it. If you're selling, post before the rush. If you're buying, that's when the good stuff appears and disappears the same day.
