College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Every account is verified with a @miamioh.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other RedHawks — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Miami is a two-year live-on campus: all full-time first-year and second-year students must live in university housing through the spring of their second year. The halls are organized by quad —Bishop Hall, Elliott Hall, Ogden Hall and Stoddard Hall on the Academic Quad; Hamilton Hall, MacCracken Hall, Maplestreet Station, Minnich Hall, Richard Hall and Scott Hall on Central Quad; Collins Hall, Dennison Hall, Dorsey Hall, McBride Hall and Symmes Hall on East Quad; Brandon Hall, Flower Hall, Hahne Hall, Hepburn Hall, Marcum Hall, McFarland Hall and Withrow Hall on North Quad; Anderson Hall, Dodds Hall, Emerson Hall, Etheridge Hall, Morris Hall, Porter Hall, Stanton Hall and Tappan Hall on South Quad; and Clawson Hall, Havighurst Hall, Hillcrest Hall, Hodge Hall, McKee Hall, Peabody Hall and Young Hall out on Western Campus. Returning students who win room selection land in the apartment-style options: Blanchard House, Fisher Hall, Logan Lodge, Pines Lodge, Reid Hall and Tallawanda Hall at Heritage Commons, plus The Commons and Hawks Landing. Everything you need is already on campus. Miami students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, microwaves, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Read the furniture list before you buy anything. Every hall room already comes with a Twin XL bed, desk and chair, dresser, closet or wardrobe, mirror, towel rack, trash can, window shades, internet — and a refrigerator, which is exactly why personal fridges are on the prohibited list. Heritage Commons rooms and the apartments at The Commons and Hawks Landing use full-size beds instead, so confirm the mattress size before you take someone's sheets off their hands. Miami also bans lofted beds and bed risers, personal air conditioners, personal mattresses, hot plates, air fryers, toaster ovens, halogen lamps and extension cords, and caps microwaves at 700 watts. Renovated and newer-construction halls are air conditioned; AC varies among the older traditional-rate buildings, and a window unit is not an option.

When it's time to hand something off, use the places everyone already walks through: Armstrong Student Center, King Library, the Recreation Center, Shriver Center and Western Dining Commons. Meet in daylight and bring a friend if the item needs two people. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
