College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Every account is verified with a @mcneese.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Cowboys and Cowgirls, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

On-campus housing at McNeese is compact and easy to learn. Most residents land in the Courtyard Suites, the six-bed and two-bed units spread across King Hall, Watkins Hall, and Zigler Hall, while Collette Hall keeps things simple with private single rooms. Burton Hall is the academic-achievement option, with its own ACT/SAT and GPA thresholds for eligibility, and the Garden Apartments give students full four-bedroom, two-bath apartments with a kitchen and in-unit laundry. Whatever building you end up in, everything you need is already on campus. McNeese students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Knowing what the room already gives you saves real money. Rooms in the Suites, Burton, and Collette come with a Twin-XL bed, a desk and chair, a dresser, and blinds, plus seating in the common area, so buy Twin-XL sheets rather than standard twin. The Garden Apartments are the exception: full-size beds, plus a refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, oven and stove, and a full-size washer and dryer already installed, which is why apartment residents shop for cookware instead of appliances. Suites and Collette residents can add a mini fridge as long as it is no bigger than 4 cubic feet, and microwaves are capped at one per unit in the Suites and are not permitted in Collette at all. Internet, water, and electricity are included in the semester housing charge, so there is no utility bill to split.

When it is time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy and public. The Holbrook Student Union and the Lether E. Frazar Memorial Library are the two easiest spots to find on campus, and the Recreational Sports Complex, the McNeese Cowboy Store, and Cowboy Stadium all work well for bigger items you would rather load straight into a car. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall 2026 move-in is set for August 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That window and the week that follows are when listings move fastest, and the same is true again when the semester ends and rooms have to be cleared out.
