College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Every account is verified with a @lion.lmu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Lions, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Almost everyone starts out in the same corner of the bluff. First-year Lions live in the traditional halls Del Rey North, Del Rey South, Desmond, Doheny, Palm North, Rosecrans and Whelan, plus McKay, which mixes first-year and continuing students. Second-years mostly move into the suite-style McCarthy and Rains. Juniors and seniors spread out into the apartments: Hannon, Leavey 4, Leavey 5, Leavey 6, O'Malley, Palm South and Tenderich. Wherever you land, everything you need is already on campus. LMU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the rules before you spend. Every residential space at LMU comes fully furnished, and every bed is an XL Twin, so extra-long sheets are the only ones that will fit. Standard issue is a bed, desk, desk chair, dresser and bookshelf, with a closet in some buildings and a standing wardrobe in Desmond, Whelan and Rosecrans. One micro-fridge per room is allowed as long as it does not exceed 4.5 cubic feet, and outside the apartments cooking appliances are out: no toasters, air fryers, rice cookers, blenders, hot plates or grills, though single-serve coffee makers and electric kettles are permitted. Do not plan on lofting. Residents may not reconfigure their bed height or disassemble University furniture, and stacking beds, furniture or appliances on cinder blocks or any other props is not allowed, so skip the riser sets. Air conditioning is worth checking first: Palm North, Palm South, McCarthy and Rains list A/C among their building amenities, the older first-year halls and the Leavey apartments do not, and window-mounted or portable units are banned campus-wide. That is why used fans move fast in August.

Meet somewhere busy and central. The William H. Hannon Library, Malone Student Center, Burns Recreation Center, the Sunken Garden and Roski Dining Hall all stay packed between classes and sit a short walk from housing. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall 2026 move-in runs across the last week of August, from international students on August 24 through continuing students on August 28 to 30, and that stretch is when the marketplace is busiest.
