College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. Every account is verified with a @loyola.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Greyhounds — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Loyola's Evergreen campus counts seventeen residential buildings, and almost everyone starts in the same handful of them. First-year students land in traditional doubles in Butler, Hammerman and Hopkins Court, in the suites of Thea Bowman Hall, or on the designated first-year floors of Campion Tower, with Messina themes shaping which community you end up in. After that the campus turns into apartments and townhouses: Ahern, Aquinas, Avila, Bellarmine, Claver, Dorothy Day, McAuley, Lange Court, Newman Towers, Seton Court and Southwell, plus the two- and three-bedroom townhouses of Rahner Village. Incoming students can only choose on-campus housing or living with family, so essentially the whole first-year class moves in at once, and everything you need is already on campus. Loyola Maryland students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Buy for the room you actually got. Every room arrives furnished with a bed and mattress, a desk and chair, a dresser and a wardrobe or closet, and rooms that already have a built-in closet don't get a wardrobe, so measure before you haul in storage. The beds are extra-long twins at 80 to 84 inches, which means ordinary twin sheets are money wasted. Air conditioning is provided in all of the residence halls, so skip the window unit. Traditional bed lofts are not allowed, but risers up to 12 inches with a lip around the edge are, and a personal fridge has to be ENERGY STAR certified and 3.5 cubic feet or smaller. Also on the no list: non-university furniture, extension cords, space heaters, halogen bulbs, waterbeds, open flames and vapes, and no pets beyond freshwater fish in a tank of 10 gallons or less. Apartments come with a stove, refrigerator, sink, cabinets and a dining table, so kitchenware and small appliances change hands constantly every May and August.

Meet somewhere busy and well lit. The Andrew White Student Center is the obvious handoff point, and Boulder Garden Café inside it, the Loyola Notre Dame Library, the Fitness and Aquatic Center, Reitz Arena and The Quad all work in daylight with people around. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
