Buying & selling at University of Louisville

Campus details for University of Louisville students.

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Every account is verified with a @louisville.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Cardinals — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

UofL requires first-year students to live on campus, and a second-year residential requirement keeps most sophomores nearby too, so the housing turnover here is constant. First-years land in traditional halls like Belknap Village North and Belknap Village South, or in suite-style buildings including Louisville Hall, Kurz Hall, Community Park, and Billy Minardi Hall. Returning students move into the apartment-style options: Bettie Johnson Hall, University Tower Apartments, Cardinal Towne, Denny Crum Hall, University Pointe, and The Province. Between those buildings, everything you need is already on campus. UofL students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Know what your room already has before you buy. Beds across campus are twin XL, so standard twin sheets won't fit. Rooms come with desks and chairs plus closets or wardrobes, and buildings like Billy Minardi Hall add dressers. Louisville Hall and Billy Minardi Hall include a microfridge in each suite, while residents elsewhere can rent a microfridge or safe through the university's outside vendor — or just buy a used one here. Lofting varies by building: beds in Belknap Village North can't be lofted, though the storage units underneath can be pulled out and moved, and loft kits, futons, and safes can be ordered through College Products for delivery straight to your room. Worth checking your specific hall before you haul a bed riser across the state.

Meeting up is easy when everyone is already on Belknap Campus. Trade at the Swain Student Activities Center, outside Ekstrom Library, at the Student Recreation Center, or by the George J. Howe Red Barn — all busy, public, and a short walk from the halls. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall 2026 move-in runs August 11 through 16, with freshmen arriving mid-week and upper-level students following, and that stretch is when listings move fastest.
