College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. Every account is verified with a @latech.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bulldogs — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Housing here spans a century of construction. The traditional halls — Adams Hall, Aswell Hall, Dudley Hall and Graham Hall — put two or three students to a room with community bathrooms, built-in desks and closets, and a kitchen and study on each floor. Over in Bulldog Village, Cottingham Hall, Mitchell Hall and Richardson Hall mix suite-style doubles, private singles and flex bedrooms, while Robinson Suites and Potts Suites are held for incoming freshmen. Legacy Park was built specifically for first-year students, and returning residents generally move into University Park Phase I, University Park Phase II or Park Place. Living on campus is expected of undergraduates until you turn 23 or reach 80 credit hours, so for most of a degree everything you need is already on campus. Louisiana Tech students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every quarter — usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the bed before you buy sheets, because it genuinely varies by building. Adams, Aswell, Dudley and Graham use standard twin mattresses at 75 inches; Cottingham, Mitchell, Richardson, Robinson Suites, Potts Suites and Legacy Park use Twin XL at 80 inches; single-occupancy bedrooms in University Park and Park Place have full-size beds. Adams, Aswell and Dudley beds are bunkable, the suites and Legacy Park loft, some Cottingham, Mitchell and Richardson beds loft, and Graham, University Park and Park Place do neither — so under-bed storage that's perfect in one hall is useless in another. Legacy Park comes fully furnished down to the couch, dresser and wardrobe, and the apartments add a desk and chair per resident plus a refrigerator. Refrigerators over 4.8 cubic feet and microwaves over 700 watts are prohibited, along with personal air conditioners, space heaters, halogen lamps, candles, dishwashers, washers and dryers, electric scooters, and toasters outside an apartment kitchen.

When it's time to hand something over, keep it public and busy. The Student Center and Tolliver Hall see traffic all day, Prescott Memorial Library is easy for a quick textbook swap, Lambright Sports and Wellness Center is simple to find, and Centennial Plaza and the Quad with its Lady of the Mist fountain are about as visible as campus gets. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
