College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, Louisiana. Every account is verified with a @louisiana.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Ragin' Cajuns — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

On-campus living here splits into three styles. The suite-style halls are Baker Hall, Bonin Hall, Coronna Hall and Huger Hall; Agnes Edwards Hall is junior suite-style and houses mostly freshmen plus a few upperclassmen and graduate students; Harris Hall is the traditional-style option. Upperclassmen tend to move into the apartments, Legacy Park Apartments and The Heritage Apartments, both fully furnished with utilities and Wi-Fi included. UL Lafayette expects all unmarried, full-time, first-time freshmen to live in campus residence halls as long as space is available, with exemptions for students who are 21 or older, married, parents, part-time, or commuting daily from a parent or guardian's home within 50 miles. So for most first-year students, everything you need is already on campus. UL Lafayette students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

The housing rules shape what actually moves here. Beds in the residence halls and at Legacy Park are Twin XL; The Heritage uses full-size beds, so don't buy sheets blind. Every room comes furnished with a bed, desk, dresser, and a closet or armoire per person, and the apartments add a furnished living room and a full kitchen. Bed frames adjust to about 31 inches and loft up to 62 inches, but lofting is requested by work order after move-in, carries a per-semester charge, and not every bed is designed for it — which is why a fridge that slides under a 31-inch bed is the one everyone wants. Refrigerators are capped at 4.5 cubic feet and microwaves at under 700 watts; suite-style rooms already have a suite fridge and microwave, while junior suite residents bring or share their own. Window air conditioners, space heaters, hot plates, toasters and toaster ovens, coffee makers without automatic shut-off, candles, and personal wireless routers are all prohibited, so skip them on your shopping list.

When it's time to hand something over, stay somewhere public and busy. The Student Union — "The U" — wraps around Cypress Lake, and the Ragin' Cajuns Store inside it makes an easy meeting point. Edith Garland Dupré Library and Bourgeois Hall work just as well. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
