College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Every account is verified with a @live.longwood.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Lancers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Longwood asks more of its residential community than most schools do: new first-year undergraduates are required to live in University-managed housing for their first three years, so the same students furnish a room, move up, and clear out again three Augusts in a row. First-years land in the renovated high-rises Johns Hall and Moss Hall, or in Register Hall, Sharp Hall on the Arc Quad, and Wheeler Hall, which houses the Cormier Honors College. Returning students spread out into Stubbs Hall, home to Longwood's sorority community, and Cox Hall, which comes back online for 2026-27 after renovation. The apartment options are Longwood Landings at the edge of campus and Lancer Park and Lancer Park North/South just under a mile away. Whichever building you draw, everything you need is already on campus. Longwood students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Main campus rooms come with an extra-long twin bed and mattress, a desk and chair, a dresser, and closet or hutch space, so twin XL sheets are non-negotiable; full-size bedding only makes sense if you're in an apartment, where bedrooms are private, lock, and come with a full bed plus a furnished living room and full kitchen. Every hall is air-conditioned, but window and floor AC units are banned outright, which is why box fans still move quickly in September. Refrigerators have to stay at or under 4.6 cubic feet and microwaves under 1,000 watts, or you can rent a MicroFridge through Residential and Commuter Life. Lofts are allowed in main campus halls only and never in the apartments, risers must be plastic with no built-in outlets or USB ports, and blocks under a bedspring are prohibited — as are extension cords, halogen lamps, hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, space heaters, grills and candles.

Meet somewhere central and busy. Upchurch University Center, Greenwood Library, Dorrill Dining Hall, Brock Commons and the Longwood University Store are all a short walk from the residence halls and see steady traffic all day — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
